The Challenge

The mature pedunculate oak had developed significant dieback in the upper crown and was shedding large limbs over the client's garden and a neighbouring Grade II listed boundary wall. Access was extremely restricted — the only route in was through a narrow side passage barely wide enough for equipment. The tree also overhung a conservatory and a garden studio, leaving virtually no safe drop zone for traditional felling.

Our Solution

We brought in a 50-tonne crane positioned on the street and rigged each section of the tree out over the roofline. Our climbing team worked from the top down, making precision cuts so every piece could be lifted cleanly. A banksman coordinated ground operations while a dedicated spotter monitored the listed wall throughout. All arisings were processed through our chipper on-site and removed the same day.

The Result

The entire removal was completed in a single day with zero damage to the listed wall, conservatory, or studio. The client was left with a clear, level area ready for replanting. We recommended and subsequently planted a smaller ornamental cherry that suits the space without risk to the boundary structures.
